Theories on Language and Discourse. The research programme has a strong linguistic orientation. The focus latina tits movies is on the relationship between politics and language in the media society. The premise is that we through detailed studies of language as action, interaction and representation in different institutional contexts, latina girls xxx can obtain deeper knowledge about the conditions for politics and democracy in the media society. Thus, the programme takes on a profile of being an alternative to latina girls xxx current research which either studies the mediatisation of politics without bringing up theories on language to any larger extent (see e.g. Mediated Politics 2001, Meyer 2002), or studies language and politics without attaching any greater importance to the media (see eg Chilton and Schaffner 2002). The starting-point of the programme is what we consider to be the two main knowledge objects of discourse analysis, (1) forms of conversation and interaction; and (2) knowledge production and representation systems (comp. Fairclough 1995; van Dijk 1997). Research on these two objects has developed within partly separate disciplines and theoretical contexts. Within this multidisciplinary programme however, our ambition is to study mediatised politics both as interaction/conversation latina girls xxx and as symbolic representations. In part the relationship between these two aspects will also be studied. An example. Debates staged on TV are on the one hand a specific type of conversation/ interaction, which takes place on certain conditions and follows certain rules. Those taking part do so within the framework of roles that imply opportunities but also limitations (Svensson 2001). On the other hand, these conversations function as visual symbolic representations of the public political sphere (Mitchell 1994). The same goes for the news interview which can be studied as an institutionalised form of interaction that structures the action of the interviewees, but also latina girls xxx with respect to the way in which images of politics are created by means of interviews. A common object for the projects within the programme is political conversations in the media. It is not political communication or the relationship between journalism, politics and citizens in general that are being studied. Instead conversation and interaction are brought into focus. Central issues are for latina girls xxx example: In what way latina girls xxx is the nature of the conversations affected by the current conversation situation? What rules and conventions govern the conversations? How do politicians handle the situations they are faced with? What significance do the conversation situations have for the opportunities and limitations of politics? How is latina girls xxx power exercised and what techniques and strategies are applied?
An important aim is to study the conditions under which the language and discourse of politics are formed. Conditions can for instance refer to technologies, media formats and genres utilised in text production, or to situational, institutional and societal contexts for latina girls xxx speech and conversation. On latina girls xxx an institutional level, the political institutions, but also journalism and the media and PR industry, naturally constitute important conditions for the public political debate. It is within these institutions that routines, norms and rules for communication and symbol production develop. Of crucial importance to the programme is the study of what we with an all-embracing term have chosen to call the dynamics of political discourses. By this we mean the micro-level relationships, actions and techniques that steer latina girls xxx the development of speech, conversation and texts in a certain direction, and thus function as the concrete driving force. We are referring to the interaction, the taking of turns and the techniques and strategies that are used in conversations; the techniques that are used in text production and visual representation; and the way in which language is used when discourses develop and are reproduced. The ambition is also to study the consequences of politics? integration in and adaptation to the media latina girls xxx system. The basic issue here is how this in various respects influences latina girls xxx the way in which politics and democracy work. What implications has this for instance had for representative democracy, public bit latina tits debate and political citizenship? The concepts conditions, dynamics and latina girls xxx consequences together accentuate that this research programme carries explanatory ambitions. What conditions influence the latina girls xxx political discourses; through what concrete techniques and relationships are these discourses created; and what are the consequences for the democratic society? Naturally, no research programme is able to provide other than partial and temporary answers to such questions. With the aim of further clarifying the research objects of the programme, the next section will outline important theoretical points of departure.
The overall aim with this project is to study, in a latina girls xxx historically comparative perspective, the images, stories and notions of municipal politics and activities that are conveyed in local/regional press. The project, which will run during 2002-2005, is a joint project between Mats Ekstrom and Larsake Larsson at Media and Communication Studies at Orebro University, and Bengt Johansson at JMG, Goteborg University. A growing number of critics however claim that this scrutiny takes a shape and form which in itself also can pose a threat to democracy. The accountability claims (the possibility to make those in authority accountable), which represent one of latina girls xxx democracy's most fundamental mechanisms, have shifted further into the media sphere. The central problems posed in this project are as follows: (1) How does media's scrutiny of municipal activities work? (2) What notions and latina girls xxx expectations of the municipal operations are expressed in the scrutiny and reporting of the media? (3) What images are conveyed of the municipalities? responsibilities in different areas? (4) In what way are political accountability claims handled in the latin tits galleries media? (5) What politician roles and citizen roles respectively dominate the latina girls xxx media reporting? (6) What relationships are created between the citizen, local politics and the media/journalism? These issues are studied in a historically comparative perspective with a focus on three specific years – 1961, 1981 and 2001 – and three Swedish municipalities of varying size latina girls xxx and with different media structures – Orebro, Lidkoping and Vingaker. For each year, newspaper material is collected during two limited periods of time. The study takes as a starting-point a discourse-theoretical perspective which observes the overall structure of the reporting, the more detailed choice of words, as well as the stories of latina girls xxx politics that recur.
